Meetings Home / Group Photos and Albums at Shutterfly

Jim Light was chosen CFA president in a special election and will serve until the next regular election in 2013.

There was some added excitement at this meeting because our member Sue, a cousin of Dick Chandler, traveled from Australia especially to attend. We’re so glad you were able to make the trip, Sue!

Scenes from the Meeting Room, Friday and Saturday

The first item on the agenda was an early-morning meeting room set-up on Friday.
Members old and new were greeted at the registration desk by Helen.
Some of our members were attending their first annual meeting.
CFA Librarian Ginny Young and husband Blake stayed busy helping researchers. Everyone was impressed with the improved organization of the library.
Dick consulted on genealogy questions with members who asked for his help.
Dick also worked with volunteers who will be heading up our outreach efforts in England and Australia.
Claudia was available to explore the CFA Lineages Database (CFALD) and generate reports for members.
It was exciting to see cousins making connections, some meeting for the very first time.
Most of Friday and Saturday were devoted to visiting with old and new friends and cousins, researching in the CFA Jim Reeves Library, and exploring the two tables of extra books provided by our member Barry.

Business Meeting

The business meeting on Saturday is the only chance we have to handle formal association business face-to-face with members during the year. Jim Light of San Jose, California, was named president in a special election and will serve until the next regular election in 2013.

Burritt on the Mountain Tour and Dinner

An added attraction at this meeting was a tour and dinner at Burritt on the Mountain, a historic park overlooking Huntsville. The photo at top left is the view from Burritt and the photo at top right shows the youngest, Madison, and oldest, Sibyl, attending the event.

Chandler Home at Burritt on the Mountain

One of the historic buildings at Burritt on the Mountain is the original home of William Robert Chandler (1798-1874). Seven of his descendants, members of Genetic Chandler Family Group 7A, were on the Burritt tour (see photo below) and another joined the CFA on Saturday.

Silent Auction

Officers

The Silent Auction offered a wonderful selection of
items donated by the members. Funds raised benefit
CFA projects.
At the end of the day, the members of the CFA Executive Committee posed behind our new banner
for a group photo.
